How To “Supertweet”

Posted on 11. May, 2009 by Casper in Marketing

supertweetAll though is not a new thing, I thought I’d write a small tutorial on how to make a tweet with 250 characters instead of the “only” 140. The reason for writing this post is that I believe that all Twitter users should be informed :)

Intructions:

First thing to do is create your 250 character message. Once completed (character counter must stay above -110).   Copy your text (highlight entire text and press and press “C” while holding down “CTRL” key). Now it is time to disable Javascripting, to bypass the 140 character limitation. Reload the browser page (press “F5″). Now paste your text back into the Twitter textarea (Press “V” while holding down the “CTRL” key). Click “Update”, and you’re done!

It is possible to turn off javascript before writing the Tweet and avoid
copy /paste.  However with Javasript disabled the character counter is not working.

Please re-tweet so that Your followers can “Supertweet” also!

It might have worked for you on or before may-11, but by today, may-26 at test, twitter doesn’t allow tweeting with scripting disabled: “You cannot use the Twitter website without having JavaScript enabled on your web browser. Please re-enable JavaScript and refresh this page.” Pitty, I had a really quite nice unsensible sentence written up to -109 for the test ;-)

This is really unfortunate. I’ll see if there is another way around it. I’ll let you know if I come up with a solution:)
